Flag Draped Coffin

The body of a U.S. soldier from Palm Beach County will return to our area for a memorial service.

The family of Army Chief Warrant Officer Jonathan Farmer made that announcement on Thursday.

Farmer, a graduate of the Benjamin School, who was born in Boynton Beach, was killed in a suicide bombing in Syria January 16. His body will arrive on Monday and a funeral service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palm Beach Gardens a week later. The family plans to hold a public service.

Farmer was 37 and had served several overseas combat tours and was awarded one Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.

He left behind a wife and four children.
