Broward Sheriff Israel Expected To Be Removed From Office

Sheriff Scott Israel speaks at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission meeting

Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday is expected to announce his decision regarding the future of the Broward sheriff.

The governor's office announced that he will be at the Broward County Sheriff's Office at 3 p.m. to make a statement on holding government officials accountable.

According to reports, DeSantis will suspend Scott Israel.

DeSantis will have his lieutenant governor Jeanette Nunez and new Attorney General Ashley Moody with him.

Sheriff Scott Israel's attorney says his client will also hold a press conference at a separate location around the same time as DeSantis' announcement.

Israel's been under intense scrutiny for his response to the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School back on Valentine's Day.
