Parents Of Student Hit By Baseball Sues School Board

A lawsuit filed against the Palm Beach County School Board by the father of a student claims the teen was struck in the eye during baseball practice back in April, suffering permanent blindness in his left eye.

The student is identified only as R.P. in the suit which states that he was tossing a ball softly to another player so that student could practice hitting.  The assistant coach is blamed for directing R.P. to move closer to the batter and that's when he was hit by the ball.

The school where this happened is not named in the lawsuit, but it claims the school board was negligent because it failed to properly train the coaches and placed players in a position where their risk of injury was increased.

The suit seeks at least $15,000 in damages.
