Governor Rick Scott says he will serve out his full second term before becoming our state's junior U.S. Senator.
Republican Scott, who defeated incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson last month, will be sworn into the U.S. Senate on January 8th, five days after the 116th Congress begins in Washington D.C.
Governor-elect Ron DeSantis will be sworn in on January 8th and Scott could have left the governor's mansion on January 3rd, elevating Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera to the office of governor for the remaining five days.
