We're shining our Election Spotlight on the Florida House, District 86 seat, where Palm Beach County firefighter Matt Willhite has been the representative for two years.
He says he passed seven pieces of legislation during his first term including this one...
"A worker's compensation benefit to assist our first responders dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."
Willhite was the House sponsor of that bill.
The new law covers firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and EMT's.
Willhite is being challenged by small business owner Laurel Bennett, who also competed against Willhite for this seat in 2016.
She speaks out against the Palm Beach County School Board's proposed property tax hike to pay for school security and teacher raises.
"No new taxes! In fact I signed a pledge for no new taxes. And the other thing I'm against that Matt's for is offshore drilling. He's got some interest in drilling in the Gulf over there and we have water issues right now that need to be resolved and I definitely don't want to add oil to the mix."
