Palm Beach County Leaders Create Template For COVID-19 Resurgence

The Palm Beach County Commission is gathering data and suggestions as to how a potential second wave of COVID-19 cases could be tracked in the county.

While there's no indication that Palm Beach County is experiencing or even would experience a resurgence of cases, county officials say there's little guidance from the state and federal governments as to what to look out for as warning signs. That's why they drafted their own document, outlining potential indicators of a theoretical second wave.

The goal was to provide Commissioners with a way to decide if now-lifted restrictions should ever be put back on.

Among the indicators on the document are increases of hospitalizations, positivity rate, mortality rate and ICU bed utilization.

It also notes another red flag is a “decrease” in those observing social distancing and the ability of law enforcement agencies to enforce those policies.
