Model says COVID-19 will peak in Florida in early May.

A new forecast model is one reason President Trump decided to extend coronavirus precautions across the country, but what does that model say about Florida?

The prediction by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation figures May 3rd will be the worst day for Florida, putting the most strain on resources including hospital beds, ICU's and ventilators. Dr. Deborah Birx is on the White House task force on the coronavirus.

"We're hoping that the models aren't completely right," Dr. Birx says. "That we can do better than the predictions are."

Charts predict hospitalizations will start to spike in Mid April and the worst should pass by June 1st. At the worst, the model predicts 174 people dying every day in Florida from COVID-19 and a total near 6800.
