Overnight Fire Damages Habitat For Humanity ReStore In Riviera Beach

The fire is out at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Riviera Beach, but the damage is extensive.

That's the word from Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County Chief Retail Officer Peter Gates.

"Firefighters here have been doing an awesome job. I've got to give them a lot of credit. But the store is full of water."

He says the flames were concentrated on the north side of the building at Military Trail and Dyer Boulevard.

Gates tells us cops working a break-in at a storage facility across the street from the store saw the smoke overnight and called it in.

He's been waiting to get inside the building to see the damage.

"We're hoping that there will be some things that we can salvage and we're going to move a lot of things that we can salvage down to our Greenacres location."

The items sold at Habitat for Humanity ReStores include gently used furniture, appliances and building materials. The money brought in is used to help the non-profit's mission.
