Disney's Fire Department Is Looking For A Few Good People

Record crowds are expected at Walt Disney World this summer and while there will be more tourists, there won't be any extra firefighters to protect them.

Disney says it is investing in new equipment for the firefighters and insists that guest safety is their top priority.

The head of the union representing firefighters at Walt Disney World says his crews are stretched too thin and guests who need help could be forced to wait.

Tim Stromsnes is president of the Reedy Creek Firefighters Association, the union that represents the firefighters in the theme parks.

He says they've gotten new equipment, but they don't have the manpower to staff it.

Stromsnes says at least 32 firefighters are on staff at all times, but he wants to see that number increased to 48.
