Deputy Finds Puppy In Deerfield Beach Dumpster

A dog found left for dead is on the mend at the Tri-County Animal Rescue shelter in Boca Raton.

Broward K-9 Deputy Charles Young was driving near Hillsborough Boulevard in Deerfield Beach on Tuesday when he received a tip and discovered the 9 month old German shepherd/beagle mix inside a dumpster.  Young says the dog was soaking wet, huddled in a corner on top of garbage.

The deputy says there are no surveillance cameras near the dumpster and the only lead authorities have is that the color of the driver's car is either black or dark blue.

The puppy, now nick-named "Oscar," is a little underweight and taking hookworm medication after eating the trash.

He will be put up for adoption in a few days.
