It was speculated in the wake of the FIU bridge collapse and the National Transportation Safety Board is confirming that workers were adjusting tension rods at the time.
Bridge workers successfully adjusted one rod, and as they were working on the second rod, the bridge collapsed sending 950 tons of concrete onto cars underneath it.
This remains under investigation as the first funerals have been held for some of the six victims. Alberto Arias and Osvald Gonzalez were laid to rest yesterday.
They've been described as soulmates.
The funeral for 18-year old Florida International University freshman Alexa Duran is being held on Thursday.
