New Risk Protection Order Used Against Zachary Cruz

A judge has approved a ban on gun ownership for the brother of accused Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz.

Using a new law passed in response to the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, a Risk Protection Order has been issued on Zachary Cruz after he was accused of trespassing at the school and prosecutors claim he is showing some of the same red flags that his brother had shown before the shooting.

The judge agreed with deputies that Zachary poses a threat to himself, due to mental issues.  The ruling calls on him to surrender any guns he may have.

A different judge earlier this week set bond for Zachary Cruz at $500,000 and ordered a psychological evaluation, as significant hurdles remain before he may return to his home at a mobile home park near Lantana.

Court documents show the 18 year old has been Baker Acted this week.
