FHP Troopers Now Patrol Marjory Stoneman Douglas After Deputy Found Asleep

florida shooting

Students and parents at Marjory Stoneman Douglas are shocked to learn that a sheriff’s deputy was asleep in his squad car as Nikolas Cruz's brother trespassed on campus Monday afternoon.

The governor offered to put a state trooper on every corner after this security breach that has many in the community shaking their heads.

In a letter to the Broward County Sheriff and Broward Superintendent of Schools, Governor Scott demands immediate action, including armed law enforcement officer at every point of entry at the school while students are on campus.

He says the state is willing to provide FHP troopers until they can come up with a more permanent safety plan.  The Broward Sheriff's Office has accepted his offer.

As for the deputy allegedly caught sleeping, he’s now suspended with pay, while an internal affairs investigation is underway.
