100-Year-Old Runner Sets Five Track World Records

A 100-year-old World War II veteran continues to show that age is just a number. Orville Rogers set five world records, bringing his total to 18, during a racing championship in Maryland over the weekend.

I have a total of 18 world records and I’m very grateful that God has blessed me with the ability and the motivation to run well.

USA Track & Field posted a video of Rogers completing the 60-meter dash in just 19.13 seconds, which is a world record for his age group.

Rogers got off to a fast start, never looking back as he blew out his competition in the 100-104 age bracket.

He also set records for his age bracket in the 200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and 1,500-meter events.

When asked about the secret behind his success and longevity, he credited his Christain faith and his friends and family who help him stay "active mentally, physically and spiritually."

“I’m a Christian and God promises a long life,” he said. “I have a wonderful wife who died 10 years ago. I have a great family. I have lots of friends and I keep active mentally, physically and spiritually.”
