Honoring Deputy & Veteran Glenn Palmer For Saving A Life

(From the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office)

In August of 2017, Deputy Glenn Palmer was called to  assist District 9 deputies in Royal Palm Beach responding to a report of an accidental shooting.

When he arrived, Palmer met with Deputy __________Vasquez and Deputy _________Eckes who had just finished a quick safety check of the residence and located the victim, Satawa Garptip, lying in the doorway, bleeding heavily with a towel wrapped around a wound  on his left thigh.

Palmer’s previous training as a U.S. Navy combat medic in Afghanistan quickly took over. Realizing the man was in shock, Deputy Palmer immediately focused on the need to stop the bleeding and placed a PBSO issued tourniquet on the victim's upper left thigh.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived and airlifted the man to St Mary's Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery to repair an arterial injury. Both Fire Rescue and hospital officials agreed that without Palmer’s fast and expert application of the tourniquet, the victim would not have survived.

As such, Deputy Sherriff Glenn Palmer III is awarded a Life Saving Medal. Congratulations.
