Trump Defends Claims Obama Didn't Call Fallen Soldier's Family

President Donald Trump is defending his claim that his predecessors did not call the families of fallen soldiers.  In a radio interview with Fox News, the President said, "You could ask General Kelly, did he get a call from Obama?"  Trump's Chief of Staff lost his son, First Lieutenant Robert Michael Kelly, after he stepped on a landmine in Afghanistan in 2010.  A White House official told NBC News yesterday that former President Barrack Obama did not call Kelly after the death of his son.  But according to a 2011 report in the "Boston Globe," Kelly has chosen to avoid speaking publicly about his son's death. The controversy broke out yesterday after Trump claimed that former presidents had not called the families of soldiers killed in action.

He had been asked why he had not yet spoken about the American troops killed in Niger earlier this month.  Following the comments, the White House then confirmed that the President will speak to the families of the fallen troops later today.
